5. Some rare species found there are the Puerto Rican boa, the Peregrine falcon and the Puerto Rican parrot. The boa can reach the length of 90 inches.
6. There are 50 species of birds, 11 species of bats, 8 species of lizards and 13 species of coquis. Puerto Rico’s only native mammal is the bat.
7. It is the most ancient natural area designated as a reserve in the Western Hemisphere.
8. It has 28,000 acres of lush, tropical vegetation.
9. It is the rainiest of all the National Forests. It rains about four times a day there.
