History
The first people to ever live on the island were the Taino. They were hunters and gatherers who lived in tiny villages ruled by a chief. Yet similar to the US. Christopher Columbus discovered it in 1493. Origionally named "San Juan Bautista" but a beautioful river running through the island changed it to " Peurto Rico" meaning rich port. Of course the natives rebel, but the spanish win out. Peurto Rico later became an important military outpost.Peurto rican citizens recieved U.S citizenship in 1917 and Puerto Rico officially became a U.S. Commonwealth in 1952.
Today Peurto Rico is a leading tourist desstination, and the island produces equipment, and lots of top selling American Pharmaceuticals.

The bottom of Puerto Rico is the driest almost like a desert type climate recieveing 36 inches of rain a year.
Droubts may occur February till March.
In the mountains, they can recieve up too 200 inches of rain per year.
